The short version
jobwhat is a browser extension. Everything you put into it — your profile, resume, cover letter, application log, settings — is stored by Chrome on your computer, in the extension's own storage. Your resume and job log are never uploaded. One optional feature, AI answers, sends the form questions the built-in rules could not answer to our server so a cloud model can answer them; it is off until you switch it on, and the switch shows you exactly what is sent.
What the extension sends, and when
- Subscription check. When you unlock Pro, the email address you type is sent to our Cloudflare Worker, which asks Stripe whether that address has a live subscription. The Worker stores nothing about you; it returns a signed token the extension keeps locally and re-checks every few days. Stripe's own handling of your payment is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
- AI answers. Only if you have switched AI answers on: when a form has questions the built-in rules cannot answer, the extension sends those questions, their answer options, the profile fields and custom Q&A you entered, and the job title and company (never your resume or cover letter file, password, or job log) to our Cloudflare Worker, which routes them to the best available AI provider and returns the answers. Neither we nor the Worker store the request; the AI provider processes it under its own privacy policy. It is off by default; switch it off again in Settings at any time.
- Trial check. Once, a one-way hash of your LinkedIn member id, so the free trial cannot be restarted by reinstalling. The hash cannot be turned back into you.
- Feedback. Only when you press Send in the feedback form: your star rating, category, message, optional email, the extension's build number and your plan. Nothing from your profile or log.
That is the complete list. In particular, the pages you visit and your job log are never transmitted, and with AI answers off (the default), neither are the forms or the answers.
What the extension reads
To do its job the extension reads the pages it runs on: job application forms on Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever and Workday, and job cards on LinkedIn. It uses what it reads to fill fields, place its buttons and colour cards, and to record the title, company, location and link of jobs you log, view, hide or queue — in your local log only.
Your control
Settings → Your data exports everything as JSON or erases it. Uninstalling the extension deletes its storage, including any downloaded model. Pro can be cancelled at any time from the Plan tab.
Contact
Questions or requests about your data: use Send feedback in the extension (the speech bubble in the header) and include an email if you want a reply. That form is the support channel.
